Latest Update (September 10, 2026)

The Town has secured $6 million in funding for the Secondary Water Interconnect Project, including $5 million appropriated by the North Carolina General Assembly and $1 million in USDA funding. The project has moved into the design phase, with negotiations with Two Rivers Utilities regarding the final location and configuration of the meter vault nearing completion. The project is expected to be advertised for bidding in Summer 2026, with construction currently targeted to begin in November 2026. Construction is anticipated to take approximately one year, with project completion targeted for November 2027. Once completed, the Secondary Water Interconnect will provide the Town with an additional connection to strengthen the reliability and resiliency of the Town’s water distribution system.
